Hamilton Group Launches our IT Security Baseline
When we launched Hamilton Group our core focus was on Cyber Security. In todays modern world of AI and all the threat vectors out there, security has to be a core priority.
Hamilton Group support and hold Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus certifications. We also assist our clients in going through their own certifications.
That brings me onto our new feature, our IT Security Baseline, it is the only sensible way to support our clients.
What is an IT Security Baseline?
When managing our clients we regularly monitor what machines are doing, this helps us maintain support and be proactive to ensure we spot problems early on and often before our customers even notice.hat
With our IT Security Baseline, we have implemented several checks that make up all the requirements of the Cyber Essentials Plus certification.
Essentially if your systems fail this baseline it will generate a ticket for a member of our Tech Support team and then they can begin working on the remediation.
There are elements that will happen in the background, we may have to contact our clients to gain access to the computer in question.
Why have you implemented a baseline?
Without our baseline it would be possible for clients to find their computers unsecure and possibly vulnerable to attack. Although we do look after our clients with Enterprise grade security tools, having the Cyber Essentials baseline strengthens this and also makes it much easier for you to pass the Cyber Essentials certification.
Having the right security posture off the back would make any Cyber Essentials consultation cheaper and greatly speed up the process of completing the certification.

What is included in the Baseline?
Our security baseline includes the checks for both Windows and Mac computers that ensure compliance with Cyber Essentials and greatly increase your pass time.
We check for things such as:
- Bitlocker
- Backups
- Updates
- SMBV1
- Defender
- UAC
- Firewall
- Check for stopped or disabled services on Windows and Mac
- Outlook indexing issues for Windows and Mac
- Outlook Search issues for Windows and Mac
There are many more checklists, these are just a few. We may expand our list over time, every year Cyber Essentials requirements change, this year they have got stronger and will likely happen again as publicity about cyber attacks become more well known and this is just one incident.
