You buy a new monitor or laptop, switch it on, and immediately notice something wrong.
Perhaps one tiny dot remains permanently black. Maybe a pixel is stuck on red, green, blue, or white. In darker scenes, you might see bright patches around the edge of the screen, especially in the corners.
These faults are commonly described as dead pixels, stuck pixels, or backlight bleed.
