Apple has recently released its new OS with IOS 14, from easily finding an application to making sure your text is sent to the right person.

With new ways to use widgets (a feature Android users have been having for years), this is definitely a more exciting upgrade this year.

SmartPhones are taking the lead from computers as their power increases. Mobile devices can be found in over 60% of business Wi-FI networks.

One of the main problems with using a Smartphone has been the smaller screen size, this can make it difficult to perform multi-tasking operations.

A common complaint among Apple Forums has been the incoming call screen, although can be useful for some but it would take over the whole screen.

This has finally been addressed with the new IOS 14, this makes your iPhone that much better to use

Here are several more new cool features

Apps are automatically categorised in a Library

Swiping back and forth trying to find an app can be a pain, fortunately, this is fixed with the new App Library available on the home screen.

Once you to IOS 14,  you will find the App Library page after scrolling to the end of your pages, from the home screen.

Your applications are automatically grouped into nice categories to make them easier to find.

You can even hide the old app pages, to do this just press and hold any open space on the home screen and press the small dots at the bottom. Simply uncheck the box of any of the screens you want to hide.

Compact UI, gain more of your screen

Instead of incoming call notifications taking over your entire screen, they now show up as a small banner at the top. You can just swipe up on the banner to dismiss or swipe down to answer.

Other compact UI features that give you more of your screen space back include:

FaceTime calls will also show up as a banner. You can continue watching a video while using FaceTime with Picture in Picture

Siri has a more compact design. Third-party VoIP calls will also use a compact UI.

Text Messaging more organised

Have you ever had the embarrassment of texting the wrong person?

Just having to scroll through your texts to find the right person or a group chat can be frustrating.

With IOS 14, texting has become easier with a much-needed bit of organisation. You can now pin your favourite text conversations to the top of the screen for easy access anytime.

If you pin a conversation or person then the icon will show as a circle at the top.

Clicking the icon will just jump to the conversation. Other cool and helpful new text features include:

The ability to add an image, emoji, or Memoji to create a group photo.

Direct a message to one person in a group conversation using the name mentioned. Use inline replies to reply directly to a specific message in a group conversation.

Memojis just became more fun

If you are a fan of the iPhone Memojis, then you are going to love the new ways you can customise them with IOS 14.

Memoji feature updates include:

New Memoji stickers.

New Memoji hairstyles.

Even more facial expressions.

New face covering and headwear options.

Six new Memoji age options.

You can redesign your home screen with widgets

IOS 14 includes an increase in both productivity and customisation, Apple finally embraced widgets and they can be added to the home screen.

Easily have your to-do list on your home screen or a Weather widget to keep up to date.

You also have the ability to stack up to 10 widgets together, so you can just swipe through them from the home screen.

Widget features include:

Ability to make widgets small, medium, or large. There are more widgets for things like Fitness, Reminders, Music, etc.

Siri Suggestions widget suggests activities (like the open Podcast app) based upon your habits and behaviours.

Smarter Siri

When Siri was announced to the world it seemed like Apple was going big with AI, sadly as Apple wants to keep our data secure the ability for Siri to learn has been hindered.

Siri can still be helpful, with IOS 14 Siri now has 20x the amount of facts it did even 3 years ago.

There is more language and accept options for Siri’s voice too. Here are some of the other Siri improvements in IOS 14:
