Do you need a Microsoft 365 backup?
Microsoft 365 (formally known as Office 365) has been around for quite some time now and is trusted by over 50 million businesses.
With that kind of client base, you would expect that Microsoft 365 would be very secure.
In many ways it completely is, they store client data across multiple servers and they have built-in redundancy in the event of a disaster.
However, even then we recommend a backup because Microsoft 365 is not immune from compromise.
Often staff can be the weakest link when it comes to accounts getting compromised.
We always advocate having a backup, because you just want to prevent one of those “oh no” moments.
As Microsoft 365 is in the Cloud, we are not talking about simply attaching an external HDD, no we are talking Cloud Backup.
Microsoft attempt to do the same with server farms where if a drive was to fail it wouldn’t mean disaster.
Even if multiple were to fail the chance of an unrecoverable situation is slim, so why do we still advocate a backup?
Microsoft 365 is not immune to Ransomware or data loss, we’ve experienced this directly with a client.
Our Cygnatech Backup service became an integral feature to keep their data safe.
Typically with Outlook, Microsoft, even when reaching out to their support very rarely recover deleted Outlook content.
Accidental deletion! Well, that is a big one, accidentally delete a file or e-mail?
Outlook does have the Recover Deleted Items feature, but what if that is empty?
OneDrive does have a nifty recover deleted items feature, but did you know after 30 days the information is purged?
